Champions League Drama in Prague: Barcelona Fight Back for 4–2 Victory
FC Barcelona secured a crucial and hard-fought 4–2 comeback win against Slavia Praha on a bitterly cold evening in the Czech capital, keeping their hopes alive for automatic qualification to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
From the opening whistle at Prague’s **Fortuna Arena**, the hosts took the game to their illustrious visitors. Slavia capitalised early, as Vasil Kušej bundled home from close range following a well-worked corner in the 10th minute , sending the home crowd into raptures and leaving Barcelona on the back foot.
Barcelona responded gradually, and midway through the first half, Fermín López emerged as the catalyst for the comeback. The young Spaniard first levelled the score in the 34th minute with a sharp finish and followed it up eight minutes later with a superb strike from the edge of the box to put Barça ahead.
Just as Barcelona looked to be heading into the break with momentum, Slavia drew level in dramatic fashion. A corner delivered moments before halftime was inadvertently turned into Barcelona’s net by Robert Lewandowski, making it 2–2 at the interval.
The second half saw Barcelona shift up another gear. After enduring a difficult opening 45 minutes, the visitors began to dominate possession and territory. Dani Olmo , introduced after midfielder Pedri was forced off with a hamstring injury, repaid the manager’s faith with a stunning 64th-minute goal , curling a fierce effort into the top corner to restore Barcelona’s lead.
Seven minutes later, Lewandowski redeemed his earlier misfortune by tapping in from close range after a slick Marcus Rashford assist, sealing the 4–2 triumph and completing a memorable turnaround.
The win leaves Barcelona tied on 13 points in the group standings with one game to go, a critical position as they seek a top-eight finish and a direct route to the knockout phase. Slavia, meanwhile, remain third-from-bottom with just three points, their European hopes all but extinguished.
